Throughout life we all have goals, wants and dreams; some of which we achieve easily and some of which are a little a harder for us to strive for. Sometimes those dreams go unfulfilled because our own thinking and beliefs can limit our potential and hold us back.
During the course of a lifetime, we acquire certain thought processes, behaviours and beliefs about ourselves based upon the experiences and interactions we have with the world around us. These thought processes; behaviours and beliefs can restrict us and prevent us from reaching our full potential. However, letting go of these limitations is possible.
Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) is the term used to describe a set of practices and techniques that allow a person to ‘rewire’ their internal neural circuitry so that they are able to overcome the limitations they have placed upon themselves and become more successful.
First established in 1975 by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, NLP was created as a way to help people achieve a greater sense of fulfillment and completeness in their lives, by removing blockages like negative emotions and limiting beliefs.
In the early stages, NLP drew on Noam Chomsky’s work in the field of linguistics, particularly his theories regarding the innate knowledge that underlies speech and communication.
Since its introduction, NLP has grown to become an important tool that can be used by people to remove the limitations that they have placed upon themselves, thus enabling them to become more successful in both business and life in general. Today NLP is extensively used in coaching, presenting, education, business and therapy.
By changing the way you think about who you are and what you are capable of, you can achieve your dreams. NLP offers a practical and methodical approach to doing so by introducing specific practices and techniques that you can begin to work with immediately.
For women in business, NLP can be an effective approach to improving communication with staff and colleagues, giving you a way to maintain awareness of your emotional and physical states, endowing you with the power to determine how you and others around you can communicate effectively. It can also help you become more confident, allowing you to express who you really want to be, whilst enhancing growth and personal development for the future.
These techniques allow you to be mindful of how others around you are also feeling and what thought processes, behaviors and beliefs they have developed in response to their environment and interactions with other people. This information can help you to get the best from them, helping them feel better about their lives and their capabilities, encouraging better productivity and growth for your business as a whole, thus allowing you to achieve your dreams.
