Those of you who follow me on Motivating Mum will know that I have done a fair amount with Thinking Slimmer over the last two years. I’m just about to recruit another group of bloggers for a 12-week Slimpod Challenge, starting on 28th April. So I think it is only fair to tell you a bit about my success with Slimpods up to now.
I first met Thinking Slimmer founder Sandra Roycroft-Davis at Cybher in 2012. I had heard of her Slimpod product before and couldn’t wait to try it. It seems Sandra had heard of me too and she couldn’t wait to work with me – promoting a competition on my blog.
So I had a go with my first Slimpod in early 2013, alongside a group of bloggers that I had recruited – see my blog. I chose the Drop two jeans sizes Slimpod as I live in jeans and would like to lose two or three sizes.
I love the concept of Slimpod – just listen to a recording and retrain your mind to eat properly. I really did believe in it and I really did want it to work. One of my personal friends lost 8kg and lost at least one dress size – she was ecstatic that it had changed her life. Another one of my bloggers lost a colossal amount and went on to be one of Thinking Slimmer’s Slimmers of the Year for 2013.
But although I did listen religiously (at first) I’m afraid it just did not happen for me in 2013. I can’t honestly say I filled in the Success log every night, and before long I wasn’t listening every day either. I can be terrible for habits – I tend to buck against anybody telling me what to do – even if the somebody is me. I know I didn’t exactly follow the programme, so I can’t really be surprised when it didn’t work.
At that point I could have just got my money back (Thinking Slimmer have a 100% Money back guarantee) but I really did want this to work, having seen other people’s success
Sandra was determined to help me. There is a huge amount of help and support on the Thinking Slimmer site, including the helping hands programme, and Sandra is also a fully qualified hypnotherapist – with a passion for helping people to overcome their weight loss issues
She booked me in for a couple of one to one sessions – they were going to be hypnotherapy/NLP but in the end most of them were just talking things through with me. We got to the root of many of my deep held beliefs about losing weight, and why I resist authority.
At the same time, I’ve been reading a lot of stuff in the newspapers about how sugar is the real enemy of all dieters – it does seem to be this year’s hot weight loss topic. Looking at it I could see that I eat far too many sugary rubbish snacks – on top of a basically healthy diet. Cutting out the junk would go a long way to helping me to finally lose the weight.
But it seemed like an impossible task – I depended on sugary food for comfort – giving myself little treats throughout the day to keep my mood up. How would I work without them?
I decided that it was time for me to dust off my trusty Slimpod and have another go. This time I chose the Beat that Sweet Tooth Slimpod as that is specifically what I wanted to achieve. This time I have been listening religiously for three weeks so far, and making quite a few Success Log entries. And this time, I feel that I have had a chance to sort out my issues with Sandra.
And so far it is working. My sugar cravings disappeared during the first week and I am eating substantially less junk than I used to. I won’t say none, because nothing is forbidden to me and I allow myself the occasional indulgence. And guess what – although I haven’t specifically set a weight loss target, I have lost four pounds in three weeks, which is good enough for me.
Slimpod Challenge 2014
So now I want to recruit a group of bloggy friends to lose weight alongside me with Slimpod, and keep me on the straight and narrow for 12 weeks starting on 28th April. I’m planning to lose one to two pounds a week until the end of the challenge. Details are here
Basically you buy a Slimpod at a 25% discount, use it and check in with the group every so often (I’m starting a secret facebook group for us all). You can blog about your journey or share info on facebook (or not, it’s completely up to you)
If it doesn’t work for you there is a money back guarantee, and if it does work then there will be prizes for anyone who loses a dress size or two and is happy to tell a success story for publication on Thinking Slimmer. If there are enough of us in the group with a tale to tell, then there will be an event (possibly in a spa) at the end, with some group photos and maybe a makeover or two…
If you are a blogger who likes to make a profit on stuff you can even make money while you diet – as Thinking Slimmer has a fully functioning affiliate scheme, so you can post an affiliate link every time you blog about your progress and make some pennies while you lose some pounds.
So who is with me on this journey?
