It has been amazing to celebrate being British this year, to be excited and to be proud. At the beginning of the year we anticipated the upcoming events of the summer in true British style – we were sceptical! Unfortunately I don’t remember a time when I was taught how great it is to be British and to fly the flag. Other countries manage to do this very well, but our stiff upper lip does not seem to allow it!
We do have so much to be proud of, maybe we just forget:
So even if it’s a drizzly Monday morning and the news on the radio is nothing but doom and gloom, take a moment to relax and reflect on why it is great to be British. Make a cup of tea, it really doesn’t matter if you use tea bags, loose tea, camomile tea or green tea, any tea is nice with a scone or a slice of cake.
Britain is amazing and we have shown the world this year that not only can we host the most successful Olympics ever, but we can also throw the greatest tea parties in the world for the Diamond Jubilee!
I hope my children will grow up in a time when we are rightfully proud to be British, after all we do have an incredible history, world-famous royalty and legendary traditions (even if some are a little strange)! But we are also famously a nation of tea drinkers – and to me sharing a cup of tea with a friend or neighbour and maybe lending an ear to someone in need is something we should all be proud of.

Earl Grey, especially the first one of the day in peace and quiet before the rest of the house awakes.
Yes it’s funny how polite Britishness prevents the British from being openly loud and proud. I may not stand up and shout… but I certainly am proud. Lovely positive blog post.

Another feather in the British pride cap is Skyfall this year. Haven’t seen a prettier visual representation of all things Brit in a long time.
