Sam and Helen are both mums of young children who have set up and run a small business from home. Whilst trying to promote their businesses they found it impossible to attend traditional networking groups which met for breakfast, lunch or in the early evening so they set about creating their own group created specifically for other mums in business.
The original group was founded in September 2008 to provide informal, affordable monthly networking meetings with an inspirational speaker and a crèche. The idea was so original it quickly became popular and they now have groups operating across a growing number of counties. Their unique approach has removed the key barriers that might stop a mum with young children being able to access business advice, promotional opportunities and peer support.
Sam’s background before having children was in Marketing. She now has two young daughters and is responsible for all MTBs marketing, newsletters and the blog. Helen has two primary aged sons and still works part-time as a primary school teacher. Helen heads up the operational side of MTB, recruiting new leaders and the keeping the website updated.
Sam and Helen have brought together the very best experts to give high quality free business advice on their blog, which is now a comprehensive online resource for business mums, offering informative and motivational tips for working mums. They also network nationally to bring the best inspirational speakers to talk at their meetings and to help promote mum-owned businesses to a national audience.
Mum’s The Boss is passionate about helping other mums realise their potential and be the best business owners, and mothers, they can possibly be.
