Some people find it hard to imagine what exactly Twitter is, how it can work and what exactly you should do there. Social networking is a very new, and to some a totally alien concept. So let’s try to imagine what it would mean in the real world (twitter analogies are in brackets).

OK, so you’ve bought your ticket, jumped on board the Social Media train and you’re ready for a great journey. This is a positive step for you and the growth of your business. However there is one catch. The train is full to capacity. Everyone else is on the train too. But do you know there are one or two spare seats available in first class?
Are you a Twitter virgin or an experienced Tweeter? Do you have a clear focus in mind as to why you are planning to or are using Twitter? Do you just tweeting aimlessly, in the hope that other Tweeters (and there are millions of them) will decide to follow you or like what you tweet about?
People use Twitter for many different reasons – to chat, to celebrity-watch, to keep up to date with a particularly industry or market sector, or to promote a blog or a business. Whatever your reasons for using Twitter there are certain things you should be mindful of but these are particularly important if you are using Twitter to market your business.
We started using Twitter 8 months ago and had no idea what we were doing. But through trial and error, and following some of the great advice available online we quickly got the hang of it.
