Are You Looking for Happiness in the Right Place? - Mum's the Boss

Are you looking for happiness and not finding it? It is very possible that you are just looking in the wrong places. Too many people, wrongly think, that they have to ask for happiness! All you really have to do is look inside and listen to your heart in order to find happiness.

Each and every one of us has the ability to love and be happy, even in the midst of hardship and despair. It just takes some people more work to uncover what it is that makes them really happy.

Looking for happiness

In order to find your joy or happiness you may need to stop looking so hard and turn off the outside world. Everyone leads such busy lives that you can easily forget that true happiness even exists.

To find those things that make you happy look inside yourself and tap into them. Take a look at what your dreams and hopes center around, what things do you love and are passionate about? At what points in your life do you feel true happiness, and what is the source of those feelings? It will be different for each person, so don’t judge what you find – if it makes you happy then that is good enough.

Once you have uncovered these things look for a way to add them into your life. You want to try and see if you can’t connect the dots on all these things in some small way. This will lead you to a brighter picture and one that features you as being happy.

If you don’t feel happy currently then take a look at those around you. The chances are these people are unhappy too. Their unhappiness is spilling over to you. To change this start looking to mingle with people who have a brighter outlook on life. Can you imagine what the effect of this will be on you? A positive one for sure.

inner happiness

It isn’t that hard to look for your inner happiness. What things make you light up? Is there a certain time of the day that motivates you to do more? What is the one thing you would do if time was of no consequence? Think back and try to remember what you loved to do as a child. Did you spend time drawing or where you happiest when out with animals or working with other people?

Be honest with yourself and write out your answers. The things that you wrote down will be those items that you are passionate about. Then give yourself permission to spend 30 minutes each day following one of your passions. While this isn’t a huge amount of time, it will make a huge difference in your life. Allow yourself to do those things you love and your happiness will follow.
