Driftwood Designs is a giftware company selling prints and homeware items designed by Welsh artist and Illustrator Lizzie Spikes. Lizzie teamed up with her business partner Becky Barratt in 2012, and together they have turned Lizzie’s designs into a wonderful range of prints, stationery and homeware products.

Many of the products (though by no means all) feature the Welsh language and the Welsh countryside, and the overall theme is very rustic and homely.

Lizzie says:

It has always been important to Becky and I that my work is financially accessible and by creating homewares, cards and prints that feature new illustrations we are incorporating art into everyday life.  I love that people have oven gloves with my painted Mackerel swimming along them and lampshades covered in multi-coloured hearts that warm their rooms.  I take delight in developing new ways of bringing my art and ideas into people’s lives and the fact that we are now running a successful brand and a business that supports us and employs others is a wonderful thing.

One recent range is a limited edition set of china mugs, based on a wrap-around landscape featuring artist Lizzie’s dream row of cottages in her familiar style. The foreground is a mass of flowers in front of five cosy-looking country cottages, each with a distinctive front garden sporting elements such as pets, sunflowers and a veggie patch complete with wheelbarrow and watering can, to really bring these little homes to life and add enticing personality. Each mug has it’s own serial number and could become a cherished tea mug or a collectors piece.
