September is here, the kids have gone back (finally!) and it’s time for the mums out there to treat yourself. You have definitely earned it!

I’ve noticed a big surge in interest in my Back to School series of posts over the last few weeks. Whether you have children starting nursery, starting primary school, starting secondary school or moving off to college or university, the transition can be hard for parents. We are used to what we do looking after our children, and as the years go by and they start to need us less, it can be hard to adjust. Parenthood can be the best job ever, but it’s a job that most of us get made redundant from before we are ready.

Of course we are proud of our children and for the most part very happy to see them move onwards and upwards to better things. But sometimes, when everyone has gone off to those better and more exciting things, it leaves an emply home and a lump in the throat.

So here’s a thing – you’ve been taking the time to look after everyone else all summer. Why not use some of this extra time to treat yourself and look after yourself for a while.

Here is a list of some of my favourite guilty pleasures. Take a look and see if any of them appeal to you, and if they do then go for it. Or maybe this list will help you find you own way to treat yourself. if it does, please leave a comment below and tell us what you have decided to do.

Power Shower

This one is my personal favourite. The day we replaced the electric shower in our bathroom with a power shower was the best day ever. Imagine starting your day with a shower that feels more like a high-end spa treatment. By installing a dependable pump for shower, producing a high pressure water flow every time, you can transform your daily routine into a luxurious escape. The powerful jets of water ease muscle tension, rejuvenate your skin, and provide an invigorating experience that leaves you feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. This small upgrade can make a significant difference in your well-being, turning a simple shower into a moment of daily indulgence.

Home Spa Day:

As a stay-at-home mum, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day housekeeping demands and forget to take time for yourself. A weekly home spa day can be a perfect remedy. Set the mood with calming music, light some scented candles, and indulge in a range of treatments like a hydrating face mask, a soothing foot soak, and maybe even a DIY manicure. This ritual not only gives you time to relax but also helps rejuvenate your skin and mind, leaving you feeling pampered and cared for without the need to leave home.

Gourmet Coffee Station:

For coffee lovers, setting up a dedicated coffee station can turn your morning routine into a delightful ritual. Invest in a high-quality espresso machine and stock up on your favorite beans, syrups, and creamers. This setup allows you to craft barista-style drinks in the comfort of your kitchen. Whether you prefer a frothy cappuccino, a rich latte, or a smooth espresso, you can enjoy a perfectly brewed cup while still in your pyjamas, making every morning a little more special.

Luxury Bedding:

Your bed is where you spend a significant portion of your life, so why not make it as comfortable as possible? Splurging on high-thread-count sheets, a modern duvet, and soft, supportive pillows can turn your bed into a sanctuary of comfort. This investment in quality bedding ensures that every time you lie down, whether for a full night’s sleep or a quick nap, you’re enveloped in softness and warmth. It’s a simple pleasure that can greatly enhance your overall sense of well-being and relaxation.

Garden Irrigation System:

If you take pride in your garden like I do, an automated irrigation system can be a game-changer. No more dragging hoses around or worrying about whether your plants are getting enough water. With a well-designed system, your garden will be consistently and efficiently watered, keeping your flowers vibrant and your lawn lush without any extra effort on your part. With a robust water pressure pump, you can make sure that your home and your garden have sufficient water pressure to allow a system like this to function at its best If you worry about water This not only saves you time but also enhances the beauty of your outdoor space, allowing you to enjoy your garden more fully and with less stress.

Streaming Service Subscriptions:

With a variety of streaming services at your fingertips, you can easily curate a personalised entertainment experience. Whether you’re into binge-watching the latest series, catching up on classic movies, or exploring niche documentaries, having multiple subscriptions allows you to access a wide range of content tailored to your tastes. Create a cosy viewing setup with blankets and snacks, and enjoy some well-deserved downtime without interruptions, turning your living room into your very own private cinema.

Reading Nook:

For book lovers, a dedicated reading nook is a dream come true. Find a quiet corner in your home and set it up with a comfortable chair or chaise longue, a small side table, and a good lamp. Add a stack of books you’ve been wanting to read and perhaps a soft throw blanket for extra cosiness. This special space can become your personal retreat, where you can escape into different worlds, get lost in stories, and enjoy some peaceful time alone whenever you need it.

Meal Delivery Service:

Cooking every day can become monotonous, especially when you’re juggling multiple responsibilities and/or getting used to new after-school routines Treat yourself to the convenience of a meal delivery service that offers gourmet or healthy meals tailored to your preferences. Whether it’s a subscription-based service that sends you fresh ingredients to prepare easy meals at home or an occasional delivery from your favourite restaurant, having a few nights off from cooking can be a delightful break. This gives you more time to relax and enjoy dinner without the hassle of planning and preparing it.

Smart Home Gadgets:

Embrace the future with smart home gadgets that make managing your household easier and more enjoyable. From voice-activated assistants that can control your music, lights, and reminders, to smart thermostats that keep your home at the perfect temperature, these gadgets can simplify your life. Imagine being able to adjust the lighting for movie night without leaving the couch or setting up reminders for your daily tasks with just a voice command. These small conveniences add up, making your day-to-day life smoother and a bit more fun.

Personalised Home Decor:

Personalising your living space with custom decor can make your house feel even more like a home. Consider investing in items like custom artwork that reflects your family’s personality, monogrammed pillows that add a touch of elegance, or even a family photo wall with beautifully framed pictures. If your children have recently left home, having photos of them in easy view can be a comfort. These details create a warm, inviting atmosphere and add a personal touch to your home’s aesthetic. It’s a small indulgence that can bring you joy every time you walk into the room.

So those are my own ideas for guilty pleasures. How can you treat yourself and take care of you?
