iteaworld is a supplier of Premium Chinese loose leaf tea, directly from China. The company supplies a limited range consisting of black teas, green teas and oolong teas, and also has tasting and sampling boxes, which make very good gifts for the tea lover in your life. They sell fabulous accessories for Chinese tea too – if any of my friends are reading this, please feel free to add any of these beautiful teapots and cups to my Christmas or birthday list!
Back in 2023, I was lucky enough to review their Classic Tea Selection, which contained 2 samples each of 8 teas, 4 of which were Black Tea and the other four were oolong tea. I gave away a copy of this selection box to one lucky reader and it was one of my most succesful giveaways ever.
So I am very happy to announce that I have another selection box of amazing Chinese Tea to give away.This time I am reliably informed that it is Flower Tea season in China, and so I was recommended to try the Scented Flower Tea Selection.
I received the two boxes of tea over the weekend (one for me and one for you!). Before I even get to the tea, I just want to say that the packaging is exquisite – I love the colours and the artwork. The gentle artwork puts me in the right mood for a relaxing tea ceremony immediately! I mean, don’t get me wrong, I like a good cup of Yorkshire like most Brits, but this Chinese tea is something else entirely…
In the Scented Flower Tea selection box there are 20 sachets covering 6 different teas
- Jasmine Black tea
- Jasmine Liubao tea
- Jasmine Green tea
- Jasmine Oolong tea
- Rose Black tea
- Osmanthus Oolong tea
You get a very clear guide showing you how long to steep each type of tea for and at what temperature.This suggests that each set of leaves can be used for several brews – 3-5 times for the green teas, and 5-7 times for the other types in this box. They also give you tea bags to put each set of leaves in, if you don’t use a teapot or another way of steeping loose leaf tea
These teas are very different to your English Breakfast tea or ‘Builders Brew’ that we normally drink in the UK. This is not a tea I would choose for the medicinal first brew of the day, needed to get your eyes open, nor the brew after a chilly school run or dog walk, whose main purpose is to warm you up. The flavours in these teas are delicate and worth sipping and savouring gently. I can see myself saving these for special occasions and a little bit of me time.
I’ve never been a big fan of oolong tea – I always found it a bit bitter for my taste, but the teas in this pack have changed my mind. It seems I may have been steeping oolong tea for too long in the past – when this tea is prepared according to the instructions, it produces a very delicate and fruity brew, which I very much enjoy.
A blog on the iteaworld site tells me that the oolong tea has substantially less caffeine than coffee and a bit less than black tea, so this would be a good choice for me for later in the day, when I try to restrict caffeine a bit. I’m looking forward to trying all the teas in this range, although with five cups from each sample, this may take a while!
The iteaworld blog and their Instagram page is full of useful information about tea, and another wonderful resource is the iteaworld Facebook group which will teach you how to prepare and savour tea like a true connoisseur. And of course there are plenty of lovely tea accessories to buy on the site as well!
