How confident are you? How do others perceive your level of confidence? Do you feel that you lack confidence?
Confidence is a hot topic of discussion today, both on personal and professional levels. Many people say that with it you can achieve unlimited success, whereas without it you may just plod along through life. Opinion differs according to you as an individual. Think about the connections you have in your personal and professional life. Consider the individuals who stand out, who inspire you, who achieve success. What common attributes do they possess to help them gain great things? My guess is that confidence is one of the main ones.
Here are 5 things that you can do to build your self confidence:
Appearance. What you wear and how you wear it will have a dramatic impact on those you meet and how you feel about yourself. First impressions last. When you dress to your standard this empowers you to feel great about yourself, in turn boosting how you come across to those you meet; with strength, confidence and purpose.
Belief. Believe you are confident and you will be. Bury your head in the sand and believe you are not worthy of achievement and you will not succeed. Attitude is 100% of the way toward feeling positive about who you are and what you can bring to others. Believe you will make it and believe in your passion.
Vision. Set goals for yourself to encourage you to aim high. Goals give you clarity and focus and they promote ambition. Write down your goals and display them in a prominent place as a daily reminder. Prefer pictures? Create a vision board of your goals and see yourself living them.
Organise. Sort out your life. Eliminate processes and people that do not offer progress to you or your business. Cut the fat – the unnecessary things that clutter your mind or distract you and your work. Focus on progress rather than process and lose the weight in your life for positive results.
Smile. The famous upward curve that we all possess. Use it to your advantage. Stretch it to the limit and uplift your spirits. Smile at a complete stranger everyday and see what a difference it makes. Laugh daily and be happy.
Life is what you choose to make it. For those who choose to be positive, to smile, and to be confident, life IS full of amazing opportunities. Are you ready to welcome confidence in your life and business too?

Hi Gail. I absorbed every word of this as it’s always something I’m working on. It can be hard to change habits of a lifetime and negative self-talk seems to be something so many of us women are burdened with.
It doesn’t help that we see programmes on our TV like the X-Factor which is a strange mix of people with no skill and heaps of confidence, alongside people with huge talent and little confidence. You always have that wonder that if you find confidence in yourself is it mis-guided!
I wrote a blog a few weeks ago about what we say to ourselves when we look in the mirror. I feel it is a good add-on to what you’re saying here, and hope it also helps those who read this post looking for tips. http://www.whitesocialmedia.co.uk/2011/09/what-do-you-say-to-the-person-in-the-mirror/
Hi Paula. Much gratitude for your positive comments about my blog post. I definitely agree with you about changing habits but when you do it’s amazing! That’s why I love to work with people who take that leap of faith in themselves, who see the “real guy in the mirror”(great post by the way) and go on to love, honour and be the most incredible individual they can be!
Thank you for the tips to help us build self confidence. Belief and self-worth are big ones, when we believe in our capabilities and potential, as well as, we believe we are worthy of achieving our dreams, we exude confidence.
Smiling is a great advise, it is simple yet effective. Thank you.
