Pinterest has come a long way since I started using it to promote my blog in 2018. Back then, it was a hotbed for “how-to” posts, listicles, and inspirational content. While those types of posts can still work, Pinterest in 2025 is more competitive, algorithm-driven, and increasingly focused on visual storytelling and personalisation.
So how do you choose the best blog posts to promote on Pinterest in today’s landscape? Let’s explore what’s changed, what still works, and how to create pins that drive traffic to your blog.
What Types of Blog Posts Work Best on Pinterest in 2025?
Pinterest has evolved into a visual search engine where users (pinners) seek ideas, inspiration, and solutions. The types of blog posts that perform well reflect the platform’s focus on personalisation and actionable content.

1. Evergreen Content Is Still King
Timeless content that stays relevant year-round remains a Pinterest favourite. Posts about topics like home organisation, budgeting, parenting hacks, or self-care tips consistently perform well.
Example:
- 2018 Favourite: “10 Quick Decluttering Tips for Busy Mums”
- 2025 Update: “The Ultimate Minimalist Decluttering Checklist for 2025”
Why It Works: Evergreen content is searchable long after publication and aligns with Pinterest’s emphasis on inspiring and actionable ideas.
2. Trending and Seasonal Content
Pinterest now actively highlights seasonal trends with tools like the Pinterest Trends feature, which shows what’s gaining popularity in specific categories. Create content tailored to these moments.
Examples of Trending Topics in 2025:
- Sustainable living (e.g. eco-friendly swaps).
- AI tools for productivity.
- Niche DIY projects (e.g., 3D-printed crafts).
- Wellness topics like breathwork or cold therapy.
Seasonal Post Ideas:
- Spring: “DIY Garden Projects That Save Money in 2025”
- Summer: “Eco-Friendly Travel Tips for Families”
- Autumn: “The Ultimate Guide to Slow Living This Autumn”
- Winter: “Cosy Hygge Decor Ideas for the Holidays”
3. Practical and Problem-Solving Posts
Pinterest users love content that offers a clear solution or guides them step by step. Think tutorials, checklists, and resources.
Top Formats in 2025:
- “How-to” guides.
- Step-by-step tutorials.
- Downloadable printables or templates.
- Product roundups with affiliate links.
Example Post Ideas:
- “How to Use ChatGPT to Streamline Your Day as a Mum”
- “A Beginner’s Guide to Digital Decluttering in 2025”
- “10 Free Canva Templates for Social Media Marketing”
4. Inspiring and Aspirational Posts
Pinterest is still about dreaming and planning. Content that inspires action—whether it’s home projects, business ideas, or personal goals—performs well.
Example Post Ideas:
- “Vision Board Ideas That Actually Work”
- “How I Made £1,000 in a Month with My Side Hustle”
- “20 Inspiring Work-from-Home Office Designs”

How to Pick the Right Blog Posts to Promote
Not every blog post is Pinterest-friendly. To decide which posts to focus on, ask yourself these questions:
- Is the Topic Visual?
Pinterest is all about visuals. Blog posts with naturally visual topics (e.g., recipes, crafts, home decor) tend to do better. - Does It Solve a Problem?
Posts that answer a specific question or solve a common issue are more likely to be searched and saved. - Can It Be Made Evergreen?
If a post can stay relevant for years, it’s a great candidate for Pinterest. - Is It Inspirational?
Aspirational content like success stories or dream-worthy ideas attracts attention on Pinterest.

How to Design Perfect Pins for Pinterest in 2025
The design of your pins is just as important as the blog content. Here’s what works now:

1. Use Pinterest’s Recommended Dimensions
The best-performing pins are vertical, with a ratio of 2:3 (e.g., 1000 x 1500 pixels). Tools like Canva offer Pinterest templates to make this easy.
2. Prioritise Clean, Bold Design
- Use clear, readable fonts.
- Stick to 2–3 complementary colours that align with your brand.
- Include a strong call-to-action (e.g., “Click to Read” or “Get the Checklist”).
3. Include the Blog Title in the Pin
Make sure your pin title mirrors the blog post’s promise. Highlight the value your readers will get.
Example:
Blog Title: “How to Save £500 on Your Grocery Bill in 2025”
Pin Title: “Save £500 This Month! Budget-Friendly Grocery Tips”
4. Use High-Quality Images
Blurry or cluttered images won’t attract clicks. Opt for high-resolution, visually appealing photos or illustrations. Free sites like Pexels and Unsplash are great resources.
5. Add Your Logo or Blog URL
Branding your pins ensures that your work gets credited, even if the pin is shared elsewhere.
6. Test and Experiment
In 2025, Pinterest rewards fresh content. Create multiple pins for the same blog post with different designs, titles, and descriptions to see which performs best.
Promoting Your Pins in 2025
Pinterest’s algorithm prioritises engagement. Here’s how to get your pins in front of the right audience:
- Use Keywords in Descriptions: Pinterest acts like a search engine, so include keywords naturally in your pin descriptions.
- Pin Consistently: Use scheduling tools like Tailwind to pin regularly.
- Leverage Idea Pins: Pinterest’s Idea Pins (multi-page, story-like posts) are perfect for step-by-step tutorials or quick tips.
- Engage with Others: Pin content from other creators to boost your account’s activity and relevance.
What’s Changed Since 2018?
Back in 2018, Pinterest relied heavily on re-pins, and static pins dominated the platform. Pinterest encouraged all users to post maybe 2/3 of thier own content and to repin other people’s content 1/3 of the time. So if you joined groups or Pinterest communities you could be sure that if yyou repinned other people’s stuff yours wouild also get repinned a lot.
A couple of years ago, Pinterest changed their tune, and changed their algorithm so that it was much more important to pin your own stuff and repins were now so crucial. So now that the bloggers are not constantly repinning each others stuff to get themselves seen, it is more important to make pins that appeal to the end consumer of your blog content
In 2025, Pinterest now prioritises:
- Fresh content (new pins uploaded directly, not just re-pinned).
- User engagement (saves, clicks, and comments).
- Carousel-type Pins and video pins, which cater to visual storytelling.
Final Thoughts: Stay Consistent and Adapt
Pinterest in 2025 is more competitive, but it’s also more rewarding for bloggers who stay consistent and adapt to the platform’s changes.
- Focus on evergreen and trending content.
- Create visually stunning, keyword-optimised pins.
- Look at your Pinterest analytics regularly and use them to refine your strategy and double down on what works. Look at Google Analytics too, to see what your visitors from Pinterest are doing when they find your site, and if they are sataying long enough to read and digest your content
