As mums we are forever berating our children for the amount of time they spend on their phones and devices, but sometimes we can also get distracted by the latest shiny app and do not set the best example.
That being said – not all apps are a distraction. In fact, there are many applications that are built to boost work productivity. Below are just a few examples of apps that could be worth trying if you want to improve your concentration, organization and output.Â
Todoist

You can of course just “write” your daily to do list on your tablet and cross things off as you go, but this doesn’t help you to manage and schedule your tasks.
When it comes to improving task management, Todoist helps by tracking and prioritising each task, while allowing you to set due dates and reminders. It’s used by everyone from students to CEOs, providing a very clean and simple interface, while also integrating with calendar apps and emails to help automatically schedule tasks. Some users have reported saving hours weekly by using Todoist.Â
Asana
For collaborative work, Asana shines as the ultimate project management tool. It allows teams to assign tasks, set deadlines and monitor progress through various customisable boards and timelines. It’s a fantastic app for automating repetitive tasks and freeing up time – reports have found that teams using Asana complete projects 45% faster.
5app
5app is an AI skills intelligence app designed to help users boost their soft skills. The app monitors your workflow and gives you scores on things like time management, as well as pointers on how to improve. It can be used for employee development, or it can be used for personal growth.Â
Freedom
Constantly find yourself opening social media apps, reading online news or playing mobile games when you should be working? Freedom is an app designed to help you focus by blocking websites and apps for selected periods so that you can’t be distracted by them when you are supposed to be working. It also has other advanced features to help you concentrate and be more productive, such as ambient sounds and session analytics. A fantastic app for helping you lock in.

Spark
If your inbox is a mess, it could be time to start using Spark. This app sorts emails into smart inboxes, prioritising important ones and archiving the rest. It also offers features like automated quick replies, snooze functions and collaborative features for teams that need to share inboxes. Finally, you can keep on top of those emails!

Calendly
One of the most popular and highly rated calendar apps is Calendly. What sets it apart? It allows for detailed work day-to-day scheduling, while integrating with a wide range of other platforms like Google Calendar, Outlook and Zoom. A paid upgraded version allows you to share calendars with other users – which is great if you need to check other team members’ schedules for availability.
Genie AI
Genie is a chatbot AI assistant that provides you access to various LLMs including ChatGPT, Gemini and Deepseek. For basic research and help with content writing, it can be a lifesaver. The platform also provides access to a variety of image generation tools. It’s important to note that generative AI still has its issues when it comes to bias and accuracy, so use it carefully. There are more specialist and advanced generative AI tools that may be better suited to certain industries – Genie excels as a cheap all-rounder for basic AI assistance.
