I was very pleased to receive a packet of D’Amazonia Fitness Tea for the purposes of this review, and I have another similar packet to give away to one lucky reader at the bottom of this thread. All opinions are my own.

I will confess that I had never heard of D’Amazonia Fitness Tea before I was asked to review it. However I would say that between my daughter and I, we have quite eclectic tastes in tea and coffee and we probably have at least 20 flavours of tea open in the cupboard at any time.

My daughter is ‘taking’ A-levels this year, and has a huge amount of coursework to submit instead of this year’s exams, so she has various forms of caffeine on a drip right now. And me? I’m a mum, nuff said. I love my cup of coffee first thing, and maybe another one later on in the morning if I need a boost. Then I try to switch to lower caffeine teas for the afternoon and evening. I thought this fitness tea sounded amazing for both of us.

So what exactly is D’Amazonia Fitness tea?

It’s essentially a herbal brew with a mixture of ingredients some of which are sourced from the Amazon rainforest. It is vegan and sustainably sourced and contains ingredients that the Amazon people have been using for good health for centuries. The founders, a mother and daughter team, were looking for a natural, lightly caffeinated drink for their own use, and they reckon this was the ideal formula – as they put it – “a delicious mix of natural caffeine, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatories.”

The D’Amazonia website suggests the following benefits from drinking the tea:

  • Enhanced Performance
  • Increase Energy
  • Avoid Caffeine Crash
  • Reduce Bloating
  • Build Immunity

Does it taste good?

While I’m perfectly keen to swig drinks for medicinal purposes (some of my breakfast smoothies look quite revolting), when it comes to tea, I do have certain taste preferences. Too herby or ‘good for me’ tasting and I might be put off.

Well I can honestly say that I really love the taste of D’Amazonia Fitness Tea. The flavour that I can most easily recognise within it is the lemongrass, although that is not overpowering and the overall impression I get is that the tea is fruity with a bit of a zing. The colour is a very rich pink – I presume that is the hibiscus (which I love!).

It certainly gives me a bit of a buzz and feels like it’s doing me good too.

The bonuses that come with D’Amazonia Fitness Tea

However, this product is more than just tea, and does even more good than the taste of it.

To start off with D’Amazonia are offering a Nutrition and Fitness plan with every purchase of the tea, so you can use the Fitness tea as one element in a healthy lifestyle change programme.

And, on top of that, they have joined a reforestation programme called One Tree Planted, which means that every time you buy a packet of tea, you will be helping the planet too.

In conclusion, I’m very fond of D’Amazonia Fitness tea, and i think it will become a staple in amongst our speciality teas. I’m not sure I’m ready to give up my morning coffee yet – that may be one ritual too far – but a gentle naturally -caffeinated brew is ideal for me to sup in between my morning coffee and my non-caffeinated needs later in the day.

You can get some too!
